Case#2: pineal region tumour with drop – metastasis to the lumbar cistern (level S2-S3)

Patient, 5 y.o.:

– pineal region tumour with drop – metastasis to the lumbar cistern (level S2-S3);

– preoperative deficit – no preoperative deficit;

– surgery – occipital interhemispheric transtentorial approach, total tumour removal (Prof. Smolanka V.I.);

– histology, immunohistochemistry – pineoblastoma , grade IV, Ki67 – 80%;

– radiotherapy, intrathecal chemotherapy via Ommaya reservoir (disappearance of the metastasis to the lumbar cistern);

– postoperative deficit – temporary reduction of vision acuity in both eyes (gradual improvement from 30 to 80%), Karnofsky / Lansky Scale – 100;
